What is Peter Tesei committed to as First Selectman?

As your next First Selectman Peter Tesei will preserve and enhance the quality of life in our unique town. He will lead with a vision of responsible government, informed by his depth of experience and knowledge about the issues facing our town.

Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability:
He will safeguard town services and maintain our town's infrastructure, while assuring our residents of modest and predictable property taxes.

Educational Excellence:
As a graduate of the Greenwich Public Schools, Peter knows the value and importance of excellent schools. He will work to make sure our highly regarded school system prepares our children for lifelong learning in an increasingly competitive global economy and an evolving technological environment. Peter will support maintaining our neighborhood schools, as they represent one of the cornerstones of our quality of life. He will support the Greenwich High School Music / Auditorium project, thereby enhancing the quality of education for our students and the collective interest of many in our community who support the performing arts. He will advocate for all pre-school age children to have access to early childhood education opportunities. Peter will also advocate for immediate adoption of emerging computer technologies, appropriate computer literacy and the necessary funding for implementation throughout our public schools, elementary through high school.

Neighborhood Character and Environment:
He favors measured development consistent with the character of our neighborhoods and will ensure Greenwich's future as a vibrant community. Maintaining our schools, libraries, parks, beaches, and community centers will continue to provide the foundation for our neighborhoods. Peter will promote intra-town mass transit options for employees and improved traffic patterns to ease traffic congestion. He will work with Attorney General Dick Blumenthal and Congressman Christopher Shays to protect Greenwich from any negative impact of the FAA Flight redesign. He will improve coordination between the building department and all land use agencies to enforce existing regulations. Peter will also support creation of a waterfront, harbor and marina resource management plan.

Open and Transparent Government:
Peter will be accessible and accountable to all Greenwich residents.

Public Safety and Security:
He will work to provide the most responsive and well-trained Police Department, Fire Department, and GEMS to protect our families.

Continued Support of our Seniors:
Peter will work to continue support of our seniors, including enhancing the Senior Tax Relief Program and continued town operation of the Nathaniel Witherell SNF. He will support a clear and responsive non-emergency communication system for seniors and other town residents. Peter will also extend the senior outreach program by continued support of TAG, Dial-A-Ride and implementation of plans for a new Senior Center.
