Dear Friends,

Since December 2007, I have been honored to be your First Selectman. Your continued support will allow me to provide the experienced and trusted leadership for our town over the next two-year term.

Over the last two years we have worked to ensure our town is in a strong financial condition. During my term as First Selectman, we have weathered the nation’s economic crisis. In this time I presented two balanced budgets, that have maintained important town services and invested in restoring and improving our infrastructure. Construction was completed on two major buildings and continues on several others.

Last year we succeeded in passing a budget that reduced town spending 4.7%; this year we reduced costs by another 4.5%. The First Selectman is responsible to review and present the budget operations plans for all Town departments. The next two years will continue to present hurdles as this year has done. My background in finance and commitment to modest and predictable taxes will help me to navigate these challenges.

To assist with the Town’s management over the past two years, I have drawn on the rich talent present in our community to volunteer and serve with me in our government and work toward our mutual goal of preserving and enhancing our valued quality of life. We have assembled a great team and together, and we have moved Greenwich forward.

Support of public safety, educational excellence, quality of life in our neighborhoods, respect and preservation of the environment, continued support for our seniors, and open and transparent government are all paramount in preserving and enhancing Greenwich. I supported the implementation of a Plan of Conservation and Development that establishes a long-term roadmap for the continued strength and success of our community.

For two years as the Town’s lead governing official and more than twenty years of volunteer, community, government, and business service, I have demonstrated experienced leadership, ability to make tough decisions and sound judgment. Working together, we can meet the challenges facing Greenwich. I ask for your support one more time and look forward to hearing your ideas for the future of our town as we continue on the campaign.
